Godspell
A Musical Based Upon the Gospel According to St. Matthew
Conceived by John-Michael Tebelak
Music and New Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz
Directed by Rhesa Richards
Presented by special arrangement with Music Theatre International.
One of the most successful musicals in history, Godspell is a
joyous, contemporary retelling of the Gospel according to St. Matthew
in music, mime, and comedy. With a score by Stephen Schwartz, who recently
composed music for the films Pocahontas and The Prince of Egypt,
the piece draws on multiple theatrical and musical influences, from vaudeville
to folk-rock to gospel music.
