"Lettice and Lovage" runs through Feb. 8
Friday, January 23, 2004 -
Directed by Todd Paul Brown, the British satire opened Thursday and continues through Sunday, Feb. 8.
Set in England in the mid to late '80s, this funny and often touching story centers on Lettice Douffet (played Candy Kane of Rialto), a self-proclaimed expert on the history plays of Shakespeare and Elizabethan cuisine.
Lettice meets with Charlotte Schoen (played by Deborah W.McFatter of Redlands), her brief and by-the-book employer. Together they strike up an unlikely friendship and the story ensues.
Distinct and exact opposites, it becomes apparent that through Lettice's flamboyant charisma and Lotte's steady and rigid reliability, they find they are also very much alike and really need their friendship.
Due to a "misunderstanding," alawyer is summoned, (played by Tony Quinn of West Covina) propelling the tale to an engaging and entertaining conclusion.
"Don't miss the opportunity to be enlarged, enlivened, and enlightened," said Brown.
Performances will be held Jan. 23, 24, 25, 30 and 31, as well as Feb. 1, 6, 7 and 8. Evening performances begin at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. Doors open one half hour before curtain. Tickets are $10 general admission.
