2009 Children's WorkshopIt is with great excitement and anticipation that the Redlands Footlighters Theatre proudly announces their Summer 2009 Children's Theatre Workshop! This incredible theatre opportunity is being run by veteran theatre producer, director, actress and playwright, Pat Adeff. Pat is also one of Footlighters Theatre's original child actors. She has spent the last 25 years teaching performing arts to students in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Orange Counties. Her students have been accepted at such prestigious venues as The Groundlings Theatre, The Beverly Hills Playhouse, and The American Ballet Theatre. Pat's younger daughter is a stuntwoman in movies and on TV, and her older daughter is an executive for an international production company. This outstanding opportunity to learn from an incredible teacher is open to all actors and actresses, ages 5 to 18. The workshop, which encompasses all aspects of live theatre including acting, singing, dancing, costume design, set construction, lights and sound, will culminate in several performances of Ms. Adeff's award-winning play A Wish in the Woods. A Wish in the Woods is a fantasy, wherein our young heroine, Jaime, has a grand adventure and meets some wonderful characters such as the ethereal Lady of the Lake, the intelligent Royale Mirror, the kind King and his not-so-kind Queen, their ditsy daughters, the handsome Scottish Prince, the gorgeous Woods Train, the tough Elf Chicks, and various fairies, elves, butterflies and mermaids. Ms. Adeff's last show at Footlighters was On the Radio, a 1945 "radio broadcast," which garnered outstanding kudos, and ended its run with standing room only, sold-out houses. Auditions for Wish will be held at the Redlands Footlighters Theatre on Thursday July 9th and Friday July 10th from 10am to noon both days. Set construction begins on Saturday July 11th, with rehearsals running three mornings a week until the week of the show, which is August 17 – 23rd. Performances are Thursday August 20th, Friday, August 21 and Saturday August 22 at 7 pm, with matinees on Saturday August 22 and Sunday August 23. Everyone who auditions will be given a role in Wish. Those who also want to work on costumes and the set will be encouraged to do so. There is a $37.50 production fee for each participating student. The Redlands Footlighters Theatre is one of the oldest community theatres in the United States. It is known for its outstanding productions and loyal audiences.
